Helping businesses, investors, NGOs, developers and entrepreneurs navigate today's most complex tax challenges — from corporate compliance to digital assets and climate finance.
We exist because Kenya's tax landscape is evolving faster than most advisory firms can track. The VASP Act 2025, unsettled carbon credit VAT, eTIMS mandates, and global minimum tax all demand specialist knowledge — not generalist responses.
Turin Solutions was built at the intersection of three disciplines no other Kenyan firm covers with the same depth: general tax compliance, digital asset taxation, and climate finance tax advisory. That focus is the service.
Our practice is grounded in technical rigour — every position we take is defensible before KRA, the Tax Appeals Tribunal, or an international counterparty. But we also understand that tax advice must serve commercial reality.
We work with Kenyan SMEs, NGOs, multinational subsidiaries, crypto exchanges, carbon project developers, and individual investors — anyone navigating a complex tax environment who needs a specialist, not a generalist.
Direct experience with iTax, KRA audit defence, VAT dispute resolution, objection drafting, and Tax Appeals Tribunal representation across multiple sectors.
The only Kenyan firm with a dedicated digital asset tax practice grounded in the Virtual Asset Service Providers Act No. 20 of 2025, ITA Cap. 470, and global best practice.
Advising carbon project developers, conservancies, and climate fintechs on tax structuring as Kenya's voluntary carbon market targets USD 4.5 billion by 2032.
Corporate tax, VAT, PAYE, eRITS, eTIMS, transfer pricing, customs duty, and company secretarial — all under one engagement letter.
Every tax position is technically defensible — grounded in ITA Cap. 470, VAT Act Cap. 476, the VASP Act, and relevant case law. We don't guess.
We are specialists, not generalists. Our three practice areas are our only practice areas — and we go deeper than anyone else in each.
We start every engagement by understanding your commercial objectives. Tax advice that doesn't serve business reality is worthless.
We are building Kenya's first specialist frameworks for crypto tax, carbon credit VAT, and VASP compliance — often before KRA has issued formal guidance.
We do not recommend aggressive positions that expose clients to unnecessary risk. We optimise within the law — and are transparent when a position carries uncertainty.
We aim to be your tax partner for the long term — anticipating legislative changes, flagging risks proactively, and growing as your business grows.

Stephen Otieno is the Founder and Principal of Turin Solutions. A Bachelor of Commerce graduate and Certified Public Accountant (CPA(K)), Stephen is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) with over 15 years of professional experience spanning the aviation, real estate, and NGO sectors.
His career across these three industries has given him an unusually broad and practical perspective on how Kenyan tax obligations play out in real commercial environments — from complex import and customs structures in aviation, to property income and eRITS compliance in real estate, to PBO registration and donor funding tax treatment in the NGO sector.
Turin Solutions was founded on Stephen's conviction that Kenya's most complex and fast-moving tax challenges deserve specialist advisory — not the generalist response most firms default to. The firm's digital asset tax practice was built ahead of the VASP Act No. 20 of 2025, positioning Turin Solutions as the only Kenyan advisory firm with a specialist framework for crypto, DeFi, NFT, and VASP compliance.
Every client engagement is led personally by Stephen — ensuring the technical quality and commercial judgement that defines the Turin Solutions standard.
These examples illustrate the depth and commercial impact of Turin Solutions' advisory work.
Lawrence Njuguna, Director of LMN Health Solutions Ltd, a wholesale importer of medical and wellness supplies, engaged Turin Solutions following a KRA query on potential customs misclassifications.
Paul Kinyua, Founder of Athi Community Network, engaged Turin Solutions to secure PBO status and tax exemptions — protecting resources for digital skills and rural empowerment programmes.
A local P2P crypto exchange needed full VASP Act No. 20 of 2025 compliance within the 12-month grace window, including tax registration, PAYE on crypto salaries, and DST obligations.
An international carbon project developer needed clarity on VAT treatment of Verified Carbon Units — a position currently unsettled in Kenyan law — before commencing sales.
A family-owned company with 12 commercial units across Nairobi had no structured tax compliance framework — no VAT returns, no eRITS registration, and mounting KRA penalties.
A Nairobi vehicle dealer group with three showrooms faced a KRA enforcement notice for eTIMS non-compliance with a 30-day deadline to comply or face penalties.
As a wholesale importer of medical and wellness supplies, our customs and VAT obligations are complex. Turin Solutions identified misclassifications that had been costing us significantly, restructured our VAT input tax claims, and put in place a proper compliance framework. The savings in the first year alone far exceeded what we paid in fees.
Running an NGO focused on digital inclusion for rural Kenyans means every shilling of funding must go as far as possible. Turin Solutions guided us through our PBO registration and tax exemption, ensuring we are fully compliant while protecting our resources from unnecessary tax leakage. Their understanding of the NGO tax landscape is exceptional.
Our carbon project had no clear tax position on credit sales — the VAT treatment was completely unsettled. Turin Solutions secured us a private ruling and structured our community benefit payments tax-efficiently. A genuinely pioneering piece of advisory work in Kenya's carbon market.
